Elbert “Bert” S. Mavel, age 82 of Somerset passed July 8, 2011. Husband of Delores (Souza) Mavel. Born in Lexington, MO. Son of the late Frank and Isabel Mavel and brother of the late Beatrice McRorey.
Bert served 9 years in the US Navy after enlisting at age 17 until he married in 1951. Father of Gary B. Mavel of Somerset and the late Wayne D. Mavel who died in 1995. Grandfather of Bryan G. Mavel, son of Gary and his ex wife Angela Macedo.
Bert worked for Regal Floor Covering and Ruggieri Floor Co retiring in 1990. Member of RI/MA Carpenter’s Union. Bert loved camping with his wife, son, grandson and friends, he enjoyed Disney World and Steam Town PA. Loved hobby trains, building model ships and painting by numbers. Bert was a smoker who finally lost his battle with lung cancer.
