Obituary

PAXTON - Wilfred Francis "Fran" DesRosiers passed away on July 7, 2011, after a courageous year -long battle with brain cancer during which time he continued to embrace life to the fullest.

Fran leaves his wife and high school sweetheart, Roberta (Beauregard) DesRosiers of 53 years, his three sons and their wives; Wilfred and his wife Janice of Oxford, David and his wife Carolyn of West Newbury, and “Chief” Robert and his wife Karen of Paxton, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren, Daria DesRosiers of Paxton, Haley and Addison DesRosiers of West Newbury, Lynn DesRosiers of Oxford, Amy DesRosiers of New Bedford, and Dr. Brian DesRosiers and his wife Kathleen of Kingston NH and their two children, Lily and Noah. Fran also leaves a sister, Jane Hainsworth of Worcester, a sister-in-law, Hazel Stanley of Charlton, a brother-in-law, Frank Beauregard of California and many nieces and nephews. His parents were Louise (LaPrise) and Arthur DesRosiers of Worcester.

Fran graduated from South High School, the former Worcester Junior College, and Clark University. Fran was a life-long learner who loved to read and was especially interested in math and science. During his retirement he attended the W.I.S.E. program at Assumption College.

Fran worked for 19 years at Crompton and Knowles in Worcester, then at Blodgett and Blodgett in Worcester where he practiced Patent Law. He was a member of the Patent Law Association.

Fran enjoyed an active retirement enjoying many trips with the Greendale Y.M.C.A and A.A.R.P. He enjoyed gardening, playing and watching golf, bowling, basketball, swimming, and running, and he participated in many road races and triathlons. Fran was a fan of the Boston Red Sox. He was a member of the Greendale Y.M.C.A., the Jewish Community Center, The Greendale Retired Men’s Club Tuesday-Thursday Bowling League, and the Bedrock Golf Club. Fran was a Mason and was a member of the Rufus Putnam Lodge and a past patron of the Persus Putnam Order of the Eastern Star.

Fran was a loving, devoted husband, father, grand and great grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed. In accordance with Fran’s wishes, there will be no calling hours and burial will be private. The family wishes to express our gratitude for the loving care Fran received from the Jewish Community Center, Hospice, and the caregivers from Family Tree Home Care, especially Judy.
