Obituary

Nancy Winders Shaw, age 74, died at her home in Yalobusha County on Wednesday, July 6, 2011. Nancy was born on August 30, 1936 in Byhalia, MS to the late George Thomas and Iola Catherine Dyer Winders. Nancy retired from the MS Employment Service after 25 years of service. She raised her children in Hopewell Baptist Church in Water Valley, MS where she served as the only pianist and organist. Nancy was an active member of Sylva Rena Baptist Church where she served for many years as a Sunday school teacher. She was very involved in the SylvaRena community. Nancy was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She always had a smile and a positive outlook on life. Her life was a picture of grace and her love for Christ was evident in her home and her daily walk.

Visitation will be held at Seven Oaks Funeral Home on Friday, July 8, 2011 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at Seven Oaks on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 2:00 PM with Bro. Hal Clark officiating. Burial will be in the Harbour Cemetery in Coffeeville, MS with Michael Winders, James Strickland, Rob Torbert, Mark Torbert, Lloyd Thompson, Don Larson, Steve Edwards, and Barrett Larson serving as pallbearers. Eugene Shaw, Billy Dean Fielder, Roy Bennett Stevens and Bob Torbert will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Nancy is survived by one daughter, Martha “Marty” Shaw of Pensacola, FL; a daughter-in-law, Susan Misita Shaw of Oxford, MS; one sister, Martha Winders Strickland of Water Valley, MS; and one granddaughter, Austin Marie Shaw of Oxford, MS.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Diane Adele Shaw; her son, Andy Shaw; her brother, George Thomas Winders, Jr.; and her grandparents, Bertie and Henry Dyer and Mr. & Mrs. Tommy Winders.
