John Wetzel Ball, 94, passed away Wednesday July 6, 2011 at his residence, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Balltown, KY to William F. & Sophia (Hall) Ball.
He had worked at Glenmore Distillery for more than 25 years.
He was a WW II, U.S. Army Veteran, proudly serving with the 492nd at Guadalcanal.
Wetzel was preceded in death by: his Parents; 1 sister: Helen Rogers and 5 Brothers: Bertel, Coahran, Leo, Lincoln & William Ball Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Mary Lucita (Culver) Ball; his children: Jerry (Sandy), Ronnie, Mike (Denise), & Philip Ball, Carol Merz (Joe), Rickey Ball (Paula),
Judy Allen (Jim), Debbie, Donna, & Sherry Ball (Marty Gelfand). 17 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild on the way and his Sister: Ruth Greenwell.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 AM Saturday at St. Paul Catholic Church, 6901 Dixie Hwy., with burial to follow in St. Andrew Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2 - 8 PM Friday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy.
