Jeanette Sullivan Stephens, 76, of Tifton passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at Tift Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 8, 2011, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Terrell Roberts will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Chad Alexander, Rob Stalvey, Clinton Moore, Wayne Mullis, Stephen Mullis, Brad Sullivan, Jerry Sullivan and Tommy Sullivan will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 7, 2011, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Stephens was born on November 20, 1934 in Tift County and was the daughter of Curtis Sullivan and Clara Dauson Sullivan, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Bob Sullivan, C. J. Sullivan, Eustice Sullivan, and Jonny Sullivan; and three sisters, Ruth Bohannon, Mary Frances Daniels and Laverne Westmoreland. She was retired from GoldKist Peanuts and secretary/bookkeeper of Jimmie Stephens Wrecker Service. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Tift Avenue Baptist Church.
Mrs. Stephens is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jimmie Stephens of Tifton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and Stan Carr, Joy and Joel Doles and Jean and Tommy Hasty, all of Tifton; five grandchildren and their spouses, James Turnmire of Tifton, Stephanie and Chad Alexander of Tifton, Amy and Eric Hagan of Woodstock, Jennifer and Rob Stalvey of Valdosta and Shelley and Josh Woodruff of Atlanta; five great-grandchildren, who thought the world of her, Haley Alexander, Luke Alexander, Kailey Hagan, Eric Hagan and Elizabeth Stalvey; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Wallace and Virginia Sullivan of Ty Ty, Charles and Betty Sullivan of Tifton and Joe and Yolanda Sullivan of Deland, Florida; five sisters and two brothers-in-law, Allene Brewer of Lawrenceville, Betty June Griffin of Tifton, Bernice Harvey of Warner Robins, Joyce and Wayne Mullis of Tifton ad JoAnn and Bobby Senecal of Bayville, New York; one sister-in-law and her husband, Geneva and Harold Hayman of Albany; and numerous nieces and nephews.
