Ernest “Ernie” Camara, age 81 of Fall River, passed away July 2, 2011 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Annette (Duclos) Camara and the late Pierrette “Helen” (Bercier) Camara, formerly Souza. Born in Fall River, the son of the late John and Hortense (Amaral) Camara. Prior to retiring, Ernie worked as a Crane Operator for Patriot Metals of Providence, RI. He was a parishioner of St. Michael Church, a member of Local Union # 315 of RI; enjoyed pigeon racing, was an avid softball player, loved family gatherings and going on trips to Canada. Ernie was known by many and loved by all.
Ernest was the father of Sheldon Camara of Fall River, Brian Camara of Zephyr Hills, FL, Gary Camara of Fall River, Michael Camara (wife Robin) of Fall River, Douglas Camara of Fall River, Gregory Camara of Fall River; the step-father of Carol Ferreira (husband Robert) of Fall River, Daniel Souza (wife Debra) of Assonet, Alvin Souza of Fall River, Robert Souza (wife Annette) of Somerset, Roger Souza (wife Margaret) of Fall River, Stephen Souza (wife Stacey) of Fall River; the brother of Hortense Rego & Hilda Camara both of Fall River, Dolores Duponte of Tiverton, the late Manuel, John, Edward Cambra, Jeremiah Camara, and Beatrice Correia. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 14 step-grandchildren, 14 step-great grandchildren, and many nieces & nephews.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on THURSDAY at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael Church at 9:00 A.M.
