LEICESTER: Norman H. Peters, Sr. 83, of 888 Old Main St., died Monday, July 4 at his home.
He leaves his wife of 55 years, Elaine M. (Seaver) Peters, two sons Harold S. Peters and his wife Diana of West Rutland, Vt., and Gordon R. Peters and his wife MaryJo of Sutton, two daughters Tamara L. Sweet of N.Brookfield, and Susan G. Snow and her husband Kevin of Rochdale, three brothers Gordon Peters of Thompson, Ct. (his twin), Roy Peters of Douglas, and Robert Peters of E.Douglas, three sisters Virginia Swarez of Webster, Marie LaMontagne of E.Douglas and Mary Tetrault of Southbridge, 12 grand children; Tabitha, Mitchell, Crystal, Chelsea, Brian, Tyler, Kyle, Kaileigh, Nicholas, Caitlyn, Emily and Rachel, and 2 great grand children; Anthony and Morgan, many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son Norman H. Peters, Jr. in 1986 and brothers Henry and Warren Peters.
Born in Douglas, he was the son of Percy and Nancy (Casey) Peters. He later served his country with the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of the Local 170-Teamsters Union in Worcester.
Mr. Peters worked for Trimount Corp. in Shrewsbury for several years, retiring in 1993. Previously, he was a truck driver for many years working for Penn-Dixie, Roadway, and Penn.Truck Lines.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 8 at 1:30p.m. in the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 MAPLE TERR., SPENCER. (SEWER GAS LEAK IN LEICESTER BLDG). Burial with Military Honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours will be held from Noon until 1:30p.m. on Friday prior to the service IN THE SPENCER FUNERAL HOME.
