Catherine Helena Gallogly, beloved sister and aunt, died on Friday, July 1, 2011 at the Wingate Nursing Center with the love of her family surrounding her. She was 92 years old.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island, Catherine spent most of her life in Cranston. The last surviving child of Irish immigrants, the late John P. and Bridget C. (Murray) Gallogly, she cherished her heritage and traditional Irish values, always sharing stories of her wonderful youth and extended family. For over 40 years, Catherine worked as an Administrative Assistant for AAA and enjoyed using her knowledge of travel to visit friends and family – across the United States and Europe.
Catherine was preceded in death by her sisters, Ann Cooney and Frances Mason. “Aunt Katie” leaves cherished memories to her nieces and nephew; Cathy and Richard Torres of Andover, Patrick and Lisa Mason of Williamsburg, Virginia, Susan and Joel Breton of Fremont, New Hampshire and Sheryl and Timothy Lomasney of Andover along with her 14 great nieces and nephews: Joshua, Jessica, Jaclyn, Julia, Jordan, Kathryn, Margaret, Cameron, Kate, Brooke, Theo, Shea, Mason and Maeve. She will be remembered by her life-long friend and cousin, Alice Gallagher of Rhode Island and her brother in law, Phillip Mason of Methuen.
Calling hours were held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, Thursday July 7, 2011 from 6 to 8 PM. Many relatives and friends respectfully attended. A funeral mass was celebrated Saturday July 9, 2011 at 10AM at St. Mark's Parish in Cranston, RI. Interment was in St Ann's Cemetery in Cranston, Rhode Island.
