Mr. Edward Gray Faries, Sr., age 79, of Pilot Mountain, passed away on, Friday, July 1, 2011 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston Salem. He was born on March 7, 1932 in Rockingham County to the late Ralph and Mazie Sutphin Faries. Mr. Faries was retired from Floyd Pike Electric and a member of the Inman Masonic Lodge 637 A.F. & A.M. in Mableton, Ga. He served in the US Army, and served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Faries is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Inman Faries, of the home; two daughters and son–in-laws, Cynthia Diane and Herman Brown, of Ft. Mill, SC, and Gina Renee and Mike Gainey, of Huntersville, NC; three brothers and sister in-laws, Billy Faries (Becky), of Gastonia, NC, Jackie Faries (Lottie), of Pilot Mountain, and J.K. Faries (Joyce), of Mt. Airy; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Susan Walker, of Westfield, Bonnie Whitaker (Phil), of Myrtle Beach, and Mabel Ann Faries, of Georgia; 5 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. Mr. Faries was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Edward Gray Faries, Jr.; and three brothers, Donald Faries, Buddy Faries, and an infant brother, Burton Faries. A memorial service will be conducted on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Cox-Needham Funeral Home at 2:00 P.M. with the Rev. Gerald Jones, Army Chaplain Tom Southern, and Cynthia Brown officiating. Military Burial Honors will be provided by King American Legion 290, King, NC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kate B.
