NEW BEDFORD — Ernest A. Cardoza, 81, of New Bedford died on Thursday, June 30, 2011. He was the beloved husband of the late Theresa V. Cardoza and father of Paul D. Cardoza of New Bedford. Born in 1930, Ernest was one of 6 children born to George and Mabel Cardoza. He is survived by his brother; Edward Cardoza, also of New Bedford. Ernest served in the Armed Forces as a member of the “Old Guard;” and, from 1948-1949 served as a tomb guard at Arlington Cemetery's Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Ernest worked for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. as a laborer for over 40 years, until his retirement. He was a member of the Goodyear Retiree's Club for many years along with his wife Theresa. A private service will be held on Tuesday, July 5th, after which he will be interred at St. John's Cemetery in New Bedford. Arrangements are by the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St. New Bedford, Ma
