Alice C. (Moynihan) Gould age 99 of Danvers, formerly of Brockton, died Friday July 1, 2011 peacefully in her sleep at Putnam Farm at Danvers after a period of failing health. She was the devoted wife of the late John B. Gould. Alice was born and raised in Brockton, a daughter of the late William F. and Marguerite F. (Shepard) Moynihan and had lived most of her life in Brockton until moving to Danvers to be close to her son and his family. A 1928 graduate of Brockton High School, Alice received a degree in education from Bridgewater State College in 1933 and began a lengthy career in the Brockton school system teaching elementary education at the Howard and Raymond Schools.
Alice enjoyed traveling with her husband and gardening around her home. She had been a member of Sigma Theta Phi at Bridgewater State, the Brockton Garden Club and St. Edward Church Guild. Alice enjoyed her Wednesday night card group and social gatherings in her neighborhood. She was particularly proud of raising her children and watching the accomplishments of her grandchildren.
Alice was the mother of Jack Gould and his wife Sheryl of Danvers and the late Bill Gould. She is also survived by five grandchildren Allyson Beauvais, Jenny, Jack, Andrew and Meghan Gould; three great grandchildren Isabelle, Julia and Brooke Beauvais; her daughter-in-law Judith Gould of Danvers; her sister in law Barbara Moynihan of Burlington and her children; her niece Ann Kivlan and her husband Eric of Raynham. Alice was also the sister of the late Frank and Fred Moynihan.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Tuesday 3-6 pm. The funeral procession will form at the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:30 am for a Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein/St. Edward Parish at 10:30 am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
