TEWKSBURY - Donald E. Peavey, age 75, an Army Veteran and commercial tradesman, died Saturday morning, July 2, at the Blairehouse of Tewksbury, following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Derby, Maine, one of eight children of the late Alden L. and Edith (Turton) Peavey. His family moved to Trull Road in Tewksbury in 1946, and he graduated from Tewksbury High School with the Class fo 1955. He had lived in Tewksbury for the remainder of his life.
He entered into the U.S. Army at the close of the Korean War, and was honorably discharged during the buildup to the Vietnam War.
He had worked for various concrete contractors in the Merrimack Valley during his long career as a cement finisher.
Donald was a Life Member of the U.S. Bunting and Cricket Club in So. Lowell.
He is survived by three sisters, Bernice "Bunny" Peavey, with whom he resided in Tewksbury, Marian Christensen and her husband David, Eleanor Siopes and her husband Louis all on North Andover; a brother, John S. Peavey of Shelbourne Falls, MA; two sisters-in-law, Esther (McMahon) Peavey of Tewksbury and Nancy (Taylor) Peavey of Goffstown, NH; a brother-in-law, Frederick Parke of Windham, NH; numerous nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews; and several great great grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, George H. Peavey, and Alden T. Peavey; and a sister, Dorothea "Dotty Ann" Parke.
His Funeral Service was held Tuesday, July 5, in the funeral home. Following cremation, interment will be in Ridgewood Cemetery, No. Andover, on Friday, July 7, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the New England Hospice, 190 Old Derby St, Suite 304, Hingham, MA 020043, are encouraged.
