Obituary

WORCESTER-Joseph Dixson, 87, formerly of 100 Chatham Street, died Friday, February 6th in Hermitage Nursing Home after a long illness. He leaves his friend Sarah F. Kennedy of Worcester, a son Joseph Dixson, Jr. of Winston Salem, NC, a stepson Bennie Dixson, Jr. of Worcester, a stepdaughter Lux Brown of Worcester, 2 granddaughters, many step grandchildren, many step great grandchildren, many nephews and nieces and many great nephews and nieces. 2 stepdaughters, Maxiline and Gertrude and 18 brothers and sisters predeceased him.

He was born in Allendale, SC the son of William and Hattie (Adams) Dixson and was a WWII Army veteran serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater before moving to Worcester in 1946. Mr. Dixson was a truck driver for 40 years for several area companies, until his retirement in 1989. Previously in South Carolina he worked for various railroad companies in the repair and maintenance department for many years. Mr. Dixson was a 32nd degree Mason of Masonic Lodge, King David Order #7 in Boston.

The funeral service is Wednesday, February 11th at 12:00 Noon in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Tuesday, February 10th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
