Mr. Harvey Hicks, Jr., age 74, of Pinnacle, passed away on, Friday, July 1, 2011 at Village Care of King. He was born on October 8, 1936 in Stokes County to the late Harvey Leonard and Lena Whittington Hicks, Sr. Mr. Hicks was retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company where he was a Chief Mechanic for 37 years, and a member of Pinnacle United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Pinnacle Lions Club, and served with the Pinnacle Volunteer Fire Department as Captain. Mr. Hicks is survived by fiancé, Estelle Gordon, of Pinnacle; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Van Boles, of Pinnacle; two sisters, Irene Wright, of Pinnacle, and Brenda Mandelstamm (Mark), of Winston-Salem; one grandson, Preston Boles, of Pinnacle; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Hicks was preceded in death by his parents and loving wife of 45 years, Jean Carole Gordon Hicks. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, July 4, 2011 at Pinnacle United Methodist Church at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Lorie Anne Bowen and Rev. Dianne Marsden officiating with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on, Sunday, July 3, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Cox-Needham Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of Sharon and Van Boles, Pinnacle, NC 27043.
