John E. McNamee, 64

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

John E. McNamee, 64, of Mansfield, passed away in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday June 29, 2011. He was the beloved husband of Linda E. (Albanese) McNamee, to whom he was wed on August 8, 1970.
Born in Boston, MA on November 27, 1946, he was a dear son of the late John E, and Helen V. (Doyle) McNamee.
John grew up in the Roslindale and West Roxbury sections of Boston. He was educated in Boston schools and was a 1964 graduate of Roslindale High School.
After graduating from high school, he proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged on January 4, 1968 with the rank of SP5.
Upon being discharged from the Army, John completed a Massachusetts Plumbers Apprenticeship Program and received his journeyman’s license.
A retired plumber, Mr. McNamee had been employed at the Massachusetts Department of Corrections in Bridgewater for 28 years prior to retiring.
A resident of Mansfield for the past 39 years, he was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield. John was an avid golfer and was a member of the Willowdale Golf League in Mansfield.
Along with his family, John enjoyed boating, fishing and traveling, and when younger his hobbies included scuba diving and skiing.
In addition to his beloved wife of over 40 years, he is survived by his loving son Shawn T. McNamee of Dedham. The dear brother of Dr. Robert McNamee of Taunton and Kathleen Smola of Enfield, CT, he is also survived by his mother in law Rita Albanese of West Roxbury as well as several nieces and nephews.
His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday July 6th at 9:30 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield, followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield.
Military honors will be performed at the conclusion of the funeral mass and private burial will be held at a later date in the Massachusetts National Cemetery , Bourne.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday July 5th from 5-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
