Joseph M. Burke of Norwell, formerly of Dorchester, passed way on Tuesday June 28th in the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born in Boston and brought up in Dorchester, he was the son of the late William F. and Josephine R. (Joyce) Burke.
Joseph served his country in the United States Navy from 1958-1961.
He worked for the United States Post Office for many years, as a postal worker.
He is survived by his children Joseph, Daniel and Donna Marie all of Pembroke, Patricia of Halifax, John of Carver, Shannon (Burke) Richardson of East Bridgewater and Danyel of North Carolina, his brothers Leo C. of Hanover, Carol (Burke) Lavelle of Middleboro, Theresa M. of New Bedford and Kathleen Louise; also his ten grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He will be reunited in glory with his brothers William and John, his sister Jody and his precious daughter Colleen.
His services will be held on Thursday July 7th at 10:00 AM in the North River Community Church, 334 Old Oak St, Pembroke, MA. Burial will follow at 1:00 PM in the Massachusetts VA Cemetery, Bourne. Visitation will be on Wednesday July 6th from 5:00-8:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman.
