Howard Brecken Strader, Jr., age 72, of 146 Taylor Street, Danville, died Tuesday, June 28, 2011 in the Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born February 22, 1939 in North Carolina, he was the son of the late Howard Brecken Strader, Sr. and Olive Opal Wray Strader. He lived his entire life in Danville and was a long distance truck driver for 27 years. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, United States Army, and the National Guard in Danville and in North Carolina. Mr. Strader was member of the American Legion post 1097 for 38 years.
Survivors include his wife, Priscilla Knight Strader of the home; one daughter: Deborah Bolling and her husband Steven of Pelham, NC; two sons: Steve Strader and his wife Patrish of Warner Robbins, Georgia, Jerry Lee Strader of Beaufort, South Carolina; one sister: Priscilla Mills and her husband Charles of Keeling, VA; one nephew: Scott Strader of Danville; two step-sons: Robert Wayne Dix and his wife Jackie of Ringgold, VA, Bobby Lee Dix and his wife Melissa of Danville; six grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren.
