MILLBURY: Ralph L. Chase, Jr., 80, died peacefully surrounded by his family on June 28, 2011 following a brief illness.
He was born in Brockton on October 5, 1930 the son of the late Ralph L. Chase, Sr. and Ruth Evelyn (Bourne) Chase.
Ralph is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 56 years, Irene V. (Sellars) Chase of Millbury formerly of Framingham. Beloved father of Carol I. Shepherd and her husband Raymond M. of Sutton; David R. Chase of Charlton and Cynthia R. Squibb and her husband David B. of Peabody. He was the cherished grandfather of six grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Brother of Gloria A. Drisko of Phoenix, AZ and Phyllis L. McKinney and her husband Les of Parkersburg, IL. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Ralph had been a resident of Framingham for over 27 years before moving to Millbury in January of this year. He and his wife Irene also were long time residents of Natick. He spent his formative years in Weymouth and graduated from Weymouth High School. Ralph served his country proudly during the Korean Conflict as a Private First Class with the United States Army. He had a distinguished and dedicated career of 27 years as a Systems Analyst with Polaroid retiring in 1985. Ralph was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and enjoyed being with them at all times. They were the center of his life. He was dedicated to his Christian faith and read the bible faithfully on a daily basis. He loved to sing, write poetry for his family and being in the company of others. Ralph enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping in his earlier years with his family and especially time spent with them on family vacations. He will be greatly missed by all the lives that he touched.
Visitations will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the Bryant Memorial Chapel of the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Route 30), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 1, 2011 at 11:00 am at the New Hope Community Church, 204 Main St, Marlborough.
Interment will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at 12:00 pm (noon) at the Chase family lot in Glenwood Cemetery, 50 Glenwood St, South Natick.
