Bienvenido Gonzalez, age 78
Beloved husband and dedicated family man
TEWKSBURY: Bienvenido Gonzalez, age 78, a resident of Tewksbury for over 25 years, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2011 at home, with his family at his side.
He was the beloved husband of Gloria E. (Vargas) Gonzalez, with whom he celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on May 10, 2011.
Born in Jayuya, Puerto Rico on August 23, 1932, he was the son of the late Jose and Crucita (Rivera) Gonzalez.
Mr. Gonzalez came to the United States in 1957, settling in Somerville, MA, where he and his beloved wife prospered and together raised their three daughters.
In 1985, he moved to Tewksbury, where he was a communicant of Saint Williams Parish.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a machinist by the George W. Moore Company of Waltham, where he worked for more than 25 years.
Bienvenido was an avid gardener, growing corn, tomatoes, beans and pumpkins which he would often donate to family, friends and neighbors.
In addition, he enjoyed bowling with the "Old Guys" in Reading and at various bowling alleys throughout the area.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by three devoted daughters, Daisy M. Baxter and her husband Kevin of Dracut, Maria E. Marchand and her husband Michael and Crucita G. Johnson all of Tewksbury; six loving grandchildren, Ross, Rachel, Samantha, Jacqueline, Elizabeth and Nicolas and his wife Daria; also two sisters, two brothers and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 2, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Williams Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. At the request of the family kindly Omit Flowers.
