Obituary

Mrs. Lillian Gillispie Phillips, age 84, of Pilot Mountain, passed away on, June 27, 2011 at her home. She was born on November 28, 1928 in Surry County, to the late Charlie and Emma Key Gillispie. Mrs. Phillips was retired from Amos & Smith Hosiery, and was a member of Rescue Baptist Church. Mrs. Phillips is survived by her loving husband, Rev. Troy Phillips, of Pilot Mountain; one son, Ronnie Phillips, of Pilot Mountain; one daughter and son-in-law, Tilda and Charles Bennett, of Pilot Mountain; one brother, William Gillispie, of Winston-Salem; one sister, Ruby Harvey, of Pinnacle; and two grandchildren, Jeffrey Flippin, of Salisbury, NC and Brian Flippin, of Westfield. Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Jeanette Phillips; one half brother, Sanford Gillispie; and two half sisters, Ethel Hamlin and Alice McCollum. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Rescue Baptist Church at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Troy Phillips and Rev. Paul Sisk officiating with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on, Tuesday, June 28, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Cox-Needham Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rescue Baptist Church c/o Tilda Bennett, 271 Toms Creek Rd., Pilot Mountain, NC 27041.
