Lottie M. (Jones) Scott, 88, of Mansfield formerly of Foxboro, passed away peacefully on Monday June 27, 2011 at the Epoch Senior Healthcare in Norton. She was the beloved wife of the late Charlie N. Scott, Sr. to whom she was wed for over 56 years at the time of his death on January 25, 2001.
Born in Norfolk, MA on December 22, 1922, she was a dear daughter of the late George H. and Adelaide A. (Johnson) Jones.
Lottie grew up and was educated in Foxboro and was a 1940 graduate of Foxboro High School. She furthered her studies and obtained her degree as a Registered Nurse at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Attleboro.
Prior to retiring, Mrs. Scott worked as a Registered Nurse at the Country Haven Nursing Home in Norton and had formerly been employed at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.
A longtime member of the First Christian Church in West Mansfield, she had also belonged to the church’s Mission Circle.
In addition to living in Mansfield for over 50 years, Lottie and her late husband had also resided in Arizona where she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW in Youngtown, Arizona.
Mrs. Scott’s hobbies included painting and writing poetry. She loved being in the presence of her adoring family and had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren.
She is survived by her devoted children Pamela J. Verrochi and her husband Paul of East Walpole, Charlie N. Scott, Jr. and his wife Donna of Arizona, Leoda A. Pacheco and her husband Martin of Raynham, Dale W. Scott and his wife Karen of North Attleboro, Valerie M. Johnson and her companion John Scialoia of Mansfield and Duane A. Scott and his wife Donna of Pawtucket, RI. The dear sister of Alvin Jones of Southboro, she is also survived by her sister-in-law Barbara Jones of Mansfield as well as her cherished 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday July 1st at 11:00 A.M. in the First Christian Church, 13 Otis St. West Mansfield. Burial will follow in the Spring Brook Cemetery, Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday June 30th from 5-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield.
In lieu of flowers, Lottie’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Lottie Scott Memorial Fund at the First Christian Church 13 Otis St. Mansfield, MA 02048.
