FRANKLIN: Mary Lou “Scoop” (Collins) Cameron 78, a longtime Franklin resident, died Thursday June 23, 2011 at Milford Regional Hospital, following an extended period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Richard T. “Deacon” Cameron, who died in 1994.
Born in Newton, August 11, 1932 a daughter of the late William H. and Mary J. (Liston) Collins, she lived in Franklin for most of her life, and also resided in Oak Bluffs, Martha’s Vineyard for 9 years before moving back to Franklin.
Mrs. Cameron retired from the Town of Franklin where she worked as a dispatcher for the Franklin Police Dept. and also as an Assistant Town Clerk.
She was a longtime communicant of St. Mary’s Church and a former member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Women’s Club.
She is survived by 1 son: Richard W. Cameron of Woonsocket, 5 daughters: Donna L. Martin of Bellingham, Deborah A. Gomes, Dale M. Rossetti, and Denise M. Rossetti all of Franklin, Diane L. Cameron of Plainville; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
She is also the sister of the late William Collins and Judith Hughes.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Tuesday at 9:15 AM from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. www.oterifuneralhome.com with a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church 1 Church Sq Franklin at 10AM. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
