Obituary

PEABODY: David M. Doherty, 46, died Thursday, June 23, 2011 in the Salem Hospital following an extended illness.
Born in Salem on November 10, 1964, he was the son of the late Richard J. Doherty and Janet M. (Keane) Moreau. A graduate of the Beverly Vocational School, he had resided in Salem and Lomita, CA for several years before returning to Salem and residing in Peabody for the past several years.
David was employed as a carpenter for his stepfather, the G.E. Moreau Construction Company for many years. He enjoyed furniture restoration, fishing, camping and was an avid backyard mechanic.
He is survived by his sister, Kelley M. Anketell and her companion, Michael Merchant of Andover; his brother, Douglas R. Doherty and his companion, Debra Brogan of Marlboro; his stepfather with whom he was raised, George E. Moreau of Andover; two nephews, Michael J. and Andrew D. Anketell; a niece, Deanna G. Doherty and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly from 5 – 8 p.m. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the “Jimmy Fund” c/o Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
