Gary M. Stephens, 65, of Metamora passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 11:05 p.m.
He was born on April 11, 1946 in Peoria to Clinton and Marian Maxine Culp Stephens. Gary married Cheryl Keith in Peoria on September 24, 1965. Cheryl survives.
Also surviving is his son, R. Shane Stephens of Lowpoint; one daughter, Kellie Falsnaugh of Quincy; three grandchildren that he and Cheryl adopted, Zachary Stephens, Lindsey Ludwig and Isaiah Stephens and two additional grandchildren, Austin and Chelsey Stephens. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmom, Alma Stephens and a brother, Rodney.
Gary had been a wireman for Enercon Engineering prior to his retirement in 2008.
He loved street rod’s and attending the National Street Rod Association rally’s.
A service of celebration of Gary’s life will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. Visitation will be on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home in Washington. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorials may be made to an education fund for Gary’s grandchildren.
