Valgine “Jean” Hyers Swindell, 90, of Tifton died Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at Maple Court Assisted Living. Graveside memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, October 24, 2011, at Andersonville National Cemetery in Andersonville. Rev. Wayne Roe will officiate.
Mrs. Swindell was born on January 21, 1921 in Alma and was the daughter of James Hyers and Effie Thomas Hyers, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Leon Alexander Swindell. She was the retired owner and operator of the Custom Drapery Shop in Tifton. She attended Sunday school at Tifton's First Baptist Church. She also served as a Pink Lady for many years at Tift Regional Medical Center and was an ABAC scholarship supporter. She was a very compassionate person and took great care of her family, who she was very attached to.
Mrs. Swindell is survived by one daughter, Patricia Ann Swindell Duvall of Atlanta; one grandson, Jeffries H. Duvall, III; and one great-granddaughter, Zoe Elise Duvall.
