Lawrence, Ma. – Lorenzo (“Larry”) Bouchard, 92, died peacefully in his sleep on Monday June 20, 2011 at the Holy Family Hospital.
Born in Lawrence, Larry was the son of Timothy and Lydia (Levasseur) Bouchard. He had been a lifelong resident of Lawrence. A former employee of Treat Hardware in Lawrence he had been employed for more than 20 years with the Internal Revenue Service in Andover prior to retiring in 1984.
Larry had been a long time parishioner of Our Lady of Good Counsel/Saint Augustine’s Church.
During World War II he served his country in the United States Army and was involved in the Normandy invasion, and the Northern France, Rhineland and Central European campaigns. Larry was the recipient of the American Defense Service Medal, American Theater Campaign Ribbon, and European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon with 4 Bronze Stars before being honorably discharged.
Mr. Bouchard was a member of Lawrence chapter # 2 of the Disabled American Veterans.
Larry enjoyed traveling, and reading, was a steam powered model train enthusiast, and was a devoted grand and great grandfather.
Larry is survived by his wife of 64 years; Colombe (Saindon) Bouchard, 5 children, Karen and her husband Edil Bonfim of Lawrence, Gerald and his wife Christine of Derry, NH, Bruce and his wife Sandy of Andover, Donna Paquin of Duluth, Georgia, Kevin and wife Christine of Derry, NH, 11 grandchildren: Bryan, Steven, Kyle, Emily, Michael, Jeffrey, Michelle, Timothy, Jennifer, Megan and Andrew, 2 great granddaughters Amber and Raychel. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Friday morning at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel /Saint Augustine’s Chapel 128 Ames Street, Lawrence with burial to follow in Saint Mary’s Cemetery.
Friends will be warmly received on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc. 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen.
