Burnelle Rickman Haynes, age 90, entered Heaven on Monday morning, June 20, 2011 in the Martinsville Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Haynes, a resident at the King's Grant Community in Martinsville, Virginia, formerly lived at 154 Summit Road in Danville for 50 years.
Born August 16, 1920 in Stuart, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Samuel A. Rickman and Vera Williams Rickman. Her husband, Elvin M. Haynes, predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her sister, Mabel R. Haynes.
Mrs. Haynes is survived by one sister, Charlene R. Quisenberry of Reidsville; three sons: Stephen M. Haynes and his wife Joan of Martinsville, Marcus S. Haynes of Manasses, Rodney L. Haynes and his wife Judy of Charlotte; four granddaughters: Kim H. Wilkins and her husband Daniel of Fuquay-Varina, Allison G. Haynes of Martinsville, Christine S. Haynes of Centreville, Heather N. Haynes of Charlotte; one grandson: Seth C. Haynes and his wife Emily of Charlotte; three precious great-granddaughters: Renee, Madeleine, and Lydia. Mrs. Haynes also leaves numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and friends.
Mrs. Haynes will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Shopping, gardening, and spending time with family and friends were her favorite past-times. Mr. & Mrs. Haynes were charter members of Woodberry Hills Baptist Church, where she served in the nursery for years. She loved her family, church and friends.
Funeral services officiated by Rev. Lewis Harris will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Woodberry Hills Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service (10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.).
