Dennis W. Downing, 61, of Sparland passed away at 6:07pm Sunday June 19, 2011 at the emergency room of OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born on June 21, 1949 in Peoria the son of Darwin and Ruth Ann Guadagna Downing. He married Ella Mae Hrabak on June 20, 1988 in Peoria.
Surviving are his wife, one son Joseph William Downing of Sparland, and one daughter Karen Senders of Kewanee, three grand children, Jasmine, Damion and Rylee as well as one sister Judith Ann Tyrling of TX. His parents preceded him in death.
A 1967 graduate of Metamora High school. He owned and operated Downing Construction for 35 years. He enjoyed boating, camping, and many other outdoor activities. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a friend to all.
Cremation Rites have been accorded with a memorial service scheduled for 7pm Thursday June 23, 2011 at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel. Visitation will be from 5pm until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the First National Bank of Lacon established for the family.
