Daniel Tracy “Paul” Dalton of 9668 Martinsville Highway, died Sunday, June 19, 2011 in Salem Virginia Medical Center.
Born November 4, 1929 in Brown Summit, NC, he was the son of the late Harry Dalton and Ora Clay McDaniel Dalton. He served in the US Army as Sergeant First Class where he received two silver stars and two purple stars. He was also a member of the Korean Happy Warriors. Mr. Dalton worked at DuPont in the maintenance and warehouse department for many years. He was married to Peggy Mangrum Dalton who predeceased him.
Survivors include a daughter: Wendy Ball and husband David Ball of Danville; three sisters: Inez Robertson of Charlottesville, VA, Evelyn Lemons of Martinsville, VA, and Beulah Holmes of Reidsville, NC; sister in law: Lois Dalton of Collinsville, VA; two half brothers: Clyde Dalton of Danville and Harold Dalton of Cascade; three half sisters: Bobby Dalton of Danville, Gay Keily of Danville, and Betty Bull of Alexandria, VA; one grandson and best buddy: Jonathan Ball and wife April of Danville; three great-grandchildren: Mallory Ball, Evan Ball and Nolan Ball; and a step mother: Edith Dalton of Axton, VA. In addition to his parents and wife, he is also predeceased by three brothers: Earl Dalton, Jack Dalton, and Riley Dalton; and one half brother: Ray Dalton.
Funeral services officiated by Pastor Bill Motley, Pastor Sharon Motley, and Pastor David Ball will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel, with interment following in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 21, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home, 9668 Martinsville Highway, Danville, VA, 24541.
