Obituary

Whitman – Harold N. Green 87 a life long resident of Whitman died unexpectedly Friday June 17 in his Whitman home. He was the husband of the late Stella (Simmons) Green.

Born in Brockton and raised in Whitman he was the son of the late George and Myrtle (Wagner) Green and a graduate of Whitman High.

Harold was a proud Veteran of World War II having served in the US Navy from 1943 - 1946 and was a long standing member of the VFW Post #697 of Whitman.

Harold had been a self-employed cabinet maker, founding and operating Linden Woodworking, Inc. of Whitman. He was an active member of the Whitman Community and had served as building inspector for several years.

He was a member of the Puritan Masonic Lodge for over 50 years, as well as a past Master, and had been the recipient of the rare and prestigious Joseph Warren Medal, awarded for significant contributions to both Lodge and community. He was a longtime member of the Shrines’, the York Rite and the Scottish Rite as well.

He is survived by his children Ronald Green and his wife Joann of Whitman, and Janice E. Dubish and her husband George of Pennsylvania, and his brother Earl Aitken of Whitman, as well as 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law Margaret Venditti He was the father of the late Gordon Green and brother of the late Donald and Edward Green and Robert Aitken.

His funeral service will be held Thursday June 23 at 10 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday June 22 from 4-8 PM with a Masonic Service at 7 PM.
