Anne Marie “Nina” Simonelli, a resident of Andover for 33 years and life partner of the late Margaret Oja, died suddenly at her home on Thursday morning, June 16, 2011. She was 74 years old.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on November 17, 1936, she was the beloved daughter of the late Candido and Lina (Grossi) Simonelli. Nina was the proprietor of Salon de Jon in Boston for many years. She was a communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Church in Andover. She enjoyed her work at the Andover Senior Center and with the Andover Cable Group. Nina will be sorely missed by her loving brother and sister-in-law; Riccardo B. and his wife Patricia Simonelli of Monroeville, Pennsylvania, sister; Deanna Crockett of Malden, aunt; Theresa (Simonelli) Dixon of Pawtucket, Rhode Island and nieces and nephews; Nina, David, Ronald Jr., Riccardo Jr., Lisa and Dina and many other cherished family members and friends. She is also survived by several grand nieces, grand nephews, one great grandnephew, several cousins and one cherished grandson; Kevin Jr. Nina was the devoted step-mother of the late Regina Goodrich.
Her funeral service was celebrated in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, Monday, June 20, 2011, at 1 PM. Many relatives and friends attended. Calling hours were held Monday, prior to the service, from 11 AM to 1 PM. Burial was private.
