
Nannie H. Pugh, age 101, died Friday, June 17, 2011 in Roman Eagle Memorial Home.
Born December 4, 1909 in the Brosville Community of Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Fletcher Haley and Laura Rogers Haley. She had worked for 26 years in Dan River, Inc., and later for 12 years in the labor and delivery room at the Danville Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Pugh was first married to Frank R. Hundley, who predeceased her in October, 1967, and later to Arch Samuel Pugh, who predeceased her in December 1974. She was a member of the former Schoolfield United Methodist Church and the Good Samaritan Club.
Survivors include two daughters: Doris Moxley of Danville, Jean Elliott and her husband Frank, also of Danville; six grandchildren: Pattie Moxley, Tony Moxley and his wife Dawn, Scott Moxley and his wife Tammy, Rev. Susan Kimball and her husband Bob, Laura Sennett and her husband John, Nancy Craig and her husband Marty; eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was predeceased by three sisters, Beulah Leftwich, Jessie McConnell and Annie Hudson, and by three brothers, Oscar Haley, James Haley and Charlie Haley.
Graveside funeral services officiated by Rev. Susan Elliott Kimball will be held Sunday, June 19, 2011 at 2 p.m. in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Swicegood Funeral Home Saturday, June 18, 2011 from 7 until 8 p.m.
