Foster Sebren Goff, Sr., 90, of Tifton died Thursday, June 16, 2011, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 20, 2011, at Victory Baptist Church. Rev. Dan Eidson and Rev. Bunky Seymour will officiate with burial to follow in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with full Masonic Rites. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 19, 2011, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Goff was born on April 30, 1921 in Tifton and was the son of John Nelson Goff and Lula Belle Arnold Goff, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Nelson J. Goff and Melburn Goff; five sisters, Eunice Goff McBrayer, Essie Goff Evans, Virginia Goff Millsap, Mildred Goff Walker and Carolyn Goff Sumner; one granddaughter, Alison Passmore; and one daughter-in-law, Carolyn Myers Goff.
Mr. Goff graduated from Tifton High School in 1941 and received a diploma of Christian Ministry from Georgia Baptist Bible Institute in 1984. He retired from Martha White Mills/Dixie Lily in Tifton with 45 years of service. He also worked at the Georgia Agrirama from 2006-2011. He was an active member of Victory Baptist Church in Tifton and was awarded “Deacon Emeritus” in October of 2006. His hobbies were playing the banjo and gardening. He was a 68-year Master Mason with the Tifton Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Goff is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dorothy McCoy Goff of Tifton; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Foster S. Goff, Jr. of Dudley, Coy L. and Carlene Goff of Unadilla, Lindsey L. and Judy Goff of Covington and Thom M. and Priscilla Goff of Navarre, Florida; two daughters and one son-in-law, Doris Pace of Tifton and Lorna and Max Fritts of Tifton; one brother and sister-in-law, John P, and Juanita Goff of Tifton; one sister and brother-in-law, Mavis and Floyd “Shorty” Turner of Tifton; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
