Edward Francis Powers Jr, died suddenly at home on June 14th at the age of 71. Edward is survived by his beloved wife Kathleen (Leach) of Manomet, his daughter Lauren Powers of Manomet and his son Edward F. Powers III of Sydney, Australia. He also leaves his 4 dear grandchildren Ashley Jane, Jacob Bruce and Evan Eager Powers and Ian Edward May. Brother of the late William H. Powers. Edward was the son of the late Edward F. and Harriett (Haworth) Powers and graduated from St. John’s Prep and Boston College where he received both his BS and Master’s in business. He worked for Drexel-Burnham as a stockbroker for many years. Edward and his family have spent summers in Manomet since 1943 and moved there full-time in 1991 from Melrose. He was a former member of the Kiwanis in Melrose, a member of the Plymouth Yacht Club, Plymouth Rod & Gun Club and enjoyed spending his time gardening, sailing, woodworking, building model ships and especially spending time with his family. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 20th at St. Bonaventure’s Church in Plymouth at 11 AM followed by burial at Manomet Cemetery.
