Robert N. Semine, MD of Weston, MA, previously of Fall River, passed away at Newton-Wellesley Hospital on June 15, 2011 after a short illness.
Dr. Semine was a retired Radiologist who lived and practiced in Fall River, MA. He was born on May 20, 1923, in Tanta, Egypt and grew up with two brothers, Maurice and Raymond, both deceased, as well as a sister, Marie-Louise, who lives in Montreal, Canada. He grew up in Alexandria where Dr Semine attended preparatory school at the College Saint Mark. He earned his medical degree from the University of Alexandria, where he was the class valedictorian. He was an accomplished athlete who was selected for the Egyptian National Basketball Team for the 1948 Olympics.
He married the late Angela (Lina) Colella in February of 1951 and they had three children. He was on the Medical School faculty at the University of Alexandria until moving to the US in 1962. Dr. Semine practiced at Union Hospital in Fall River and then transitioned to his private radiology office practice in the Hanover Medical Building where he worked until his retirement in 1996.
He moved to Weston in 2007 to be closer to his three sons, Dr. Alan Semine and his wife Janis of Weston, Dr. Christian Semine and his wife Deborah (Zalkind) of Marblehead and Dr. Nicolas Semine and his wife Dr. Drucilla Roberts of Millis. He leaves his grandchildren, Charlie and his wife Roxanne, Jason, Katie, Laura, Simret and Simenesh. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service in St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church 57 Brown St. Weston, MA 02493. Saturday, June 18th at 10AM. Visitation prior to the service from 9AM-10AM in the church. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment Oak Grove Cemetery, Fall River.
