Obituary

Amanda Marie Burr, 31, of Westfield for the past 3 years and formerly of Norfolk, died unexpectedly on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at her home.

Born in Amarillo, Texas on November 27, 1979, she was the daughter of Lawrence R. and Frances “Faith” (Gorski) Burr of Norfolk.

Amanda graduated from the Walnut Hill School for the Performing Arts in Natick. She earned a Bachelor of Music Degree from the New England Conservatory in Boston, a Master’s Degree in Music from UMASS – Amherst and her Performance Degree from Boston University.

Amanda was on the faculty at Westfield State University.

An accomplished violinist, Amanda was a member of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, the Springfield Symphony Orchestra, the Arcadia Players and also other ensembles.

Besides her parents, she is also survived by her brother Lawrence R. Burr, Jr. of Newport, ME, her sister Cynthia Jean Jaynes of Pittsfield, ME, her grandmother Anna Gorski of New Britain, CT and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Friday, June 17 at 11 a.m. in the Medway Community Church, 193 Main St. in West Medway.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 16 from 4 - 8 p.m. in the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Amanda’s memory to Bethany Christian Services, 820 Turnpike St. #101, North Andover, MA 01845.
