Henry Franklin Hodnett, 80, of Tifton went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 13, 2011, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2011, at Zion Hope Baptist Church. Rev. Olin Hamlin, Dr. Danny Ray and Rev. Clinton Moore will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Russell Hodnett, Nick Hodnett, Rick Hodnett, Johnathan Hodnett, Timothy Hodnett, Randy Meadows, Russell Merritt, Cameron Perry, Zack Hodnett and Wesley Hodnett will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Fellowship, Eula Daniels and Eddie Allen Sunday school classes of Zion Hope Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Hodnett was born on November 7, 1930 in Tift County and was the son of T. Z. Hodnett and Nannie Lou Pitts Hodnett, both deceased. He retired from the City of Tifton after 36 years and was a member of Zion Hope Baptist Church. He was also a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Hodnett is survived by his wife, June O’Berry Hodnett of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Tim Edward and Karen Pritchard Hodnett of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda Hodnett Perry and her husband, Richard, of Tifton; two sisters, Zera Hodnett Owens of Tifton and Bonnie Hodnett Bailey of Tifton; five grandchildren and their spouses, Russell and Lisa Hodnett, Nick Hodnett and Brittnee Clanton and Rick and Corey Hodnett, LeAnne and Randy Meadows and Katherine and Russell Merritt; and nine great-grandchildren, Johnathan Hodnett, Timothy Hodnett, Cameron Perry, Leslie Hodnett, Zack Hodnett, Wesley Hodnett, Alexis Hodnett, Sydnee Clanton and Morgan Clanton.
