Obituary

TAUNTON - Matthew H. Goulart Jr. “Skip” “Harry” was born in Dighton on December 22, 1937, to Matthew and Annie (DeCosta) Goulart.
He lived in Taunton since he was a small child and was educated in the Taunton School system.
An Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, Matt later worked at Raytheon, and then as a carpet installer.
He retired from Ruggieri Rug Company.
Matt is survived by his loving wife Barbara (Woodward) of 52 years.
They met when he was just 18 and had been together ever since.
Matt is also survived by four children, Charlene Davis of Taunton, Matthew Goulart III and his wife Bonnie of Taunton, Debra Pittman and her husband Matthew of Assonet, and Maureen Morin of Taunton.
Matthew also enjoyed his days with his grandchildren, Megan Frith and her husband Ryan, Wendy Davis, Lin Goulart, Samantha Pittman, Michael Davis, Allison Pittman, Daniel Pittman and Ruth Morin.
He also enjoyed sharing his ice cream and vanilla pudding with whipped cream with his great grandchildren, Kayley and Kenna Frith.
Survivors also include his mother, Annie Goulart; sister, Anna Medeiros; brother and his wife, Robert and Beverly Goulart; sister, Andrea Butler; sister, Jo-Anne Guimond; brother and his wife David and Darlene Goulart; and brother and his wife Richard and Corinne Goulart; plus many nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by his father, Matthew Goulart; sister, Sandra Roderick; and infant twin brothers.
Matt enjoyed spending time with his family and could be seen playing in his yard with any of the children or grandchildren on any day.
You may have also seen him poking out from under the hood of a vehicle, as he loved to tinker with autos.
Always willing to lend a helping hand, Matt would usually have a list of things to do every day before he became ill.
Matt fought a great fight against lung cancer, but succumbed to metastasized brain cancer on June 12, 2011.
He will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
Funeral Services will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Thursday, June 16th at 11 a.m.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the services.
