Dartmouth - Gerardo Corchado of S. Dartmouth, 85, died Monday February 2,2004 at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth. He was the husband of Gloria (Cruz) Corchado. He is survived by two sons Paul Corchado and his wife Madeline C. Deschenes of Assonet, and Peter Corchado and his wife Marjorie of North Dartmouth,Mass. Mr. Corchado was the grandfather of Paul Anthony Corchado, Peter Christopher Corchado, Melissa Corchado, Louie Corchado and Rachelle Corchado. 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He also has several deceased brothers and a sister.
Mr. Corchado was born in Agua Dia, Puerto Rico and lived in this area most of his life. He was the son of the late Augusto Gonzalez and Vicenta (Corchado). Mr. Corchado was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. Mr. Corchado was also a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. He liked cooking and gardening. Mr. Corchado was also a professional boxer during the 1940's who went by the name of " Pedro Corchado".
His Funeral Mass will take place Thursday February 5, 2004 from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 A.M. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, New Bedford, MA. Visiting hours are Wednesday February 4, 2004 from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
