Josephine E. “Jo” (Zamaitis) Campion, age 98, of Bridgewater, died Friday June 10, 2011 surrounded by her family at Island Terrace Nursing Home. She was the loving wife of the late Raymond E. Campion. Jo was born and raised in Brockton, a daughter of the late Andrew and Beatrice (Zenkevicz) Zamaitis and lived in the city until moving to Bridgewater in 1983.
A graduate of Mass General Hospital School of Nursing, Jo had been a LPN at Cardinal Cushing Hospital for many years and retired in her early 70s. In her free time she enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, knitting and quilting. Jo was an avid Red Sox fan and most of all treasured her time spent with family.
Jo is survived by her daughter Mary E. Kibart and her husband Roger of Bridgewater and her son Richard A. Campion and his wife Kathleen of Dalton, MA. She leaves two granddaughters, Rebecca Campion of Fall River and Staisy Kibart of Tampa, FL as well as many nieces and nephews. Jo was the sister of Ralph Zamaitis of Brockton, Edward Zamaitis of West Bridgewater, Mary Maynard of Washington, DC and the late Helen Moneikis and Albert and John Zamaitis.
A funeral service will be celebrated in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday at 10:30 am Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday 4-7 pm.
