Hooksett– Joseph Bleczinski, 93, died peacefully on June 9, 2011 at Concord Regional Visiting Nurses Association Hospice House.
He was born in Methuen, MA. on December 25, 1917 the son of Walter and Victoria (Gazda) Bleczinski.
His early years were spent enjoying the outdoors with siblings and friends, playing guitar with his band the “Polka Dots”, and riding his Indian motorcycle.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Bleczinski served in England, France, Belgium and Germany.
After the War, he married, built a home in Hooksett where he spent the last 65 years and raised his family. He was an auto mechanic in Manchester, retiring from Chrysler.
He was active in youth sports, coaching both baseball and basketball. He enjoyed cookouts with family and relatives, vegetable gardening, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed trips to Hawaii, Alaska , the Pacific Northwest, and throughout New England.
He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Sophia (Sliva) Bleczinski on May 18, 2007.
In His Life: He is survived by a daughter Linda Batten and husband Rob of John Day, OR., two sons, Joe Bleczinski of Narragansett RI., John Bleczinski and his wife Margaret of Bow, two grandchildren, Joseph and Kathryn of Bow, two sisters, Annette LaFrance and husband Ted, of Salem, and Nellie Muzichuk of Middleton, MA., numerous nieces and nephews.
Services: Calling hours will be on Monday from 4 to 8 PM at J.N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge St., Manchester.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 AM in the funeral home.
Burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family in NH Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
