GLOUCESTER: Concetta M. “Connie” (Lovasco) Meadows, 90, formerly of 10 Dale Avenue, died Thursday evening, June 9, 2011 in the Golden Living Center following an extended illness. She was the wife of the late Walter F. Meadows, who died in September of 2000.
Born in Gloucester on June 21, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Stefanie (Ventimiglia) Lovasco. She was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and a graduate of the Gloucester High School.
Mrs. Meadows was employed as a fish packer for many years along the Gloucester waterfront. Among other jobs, she had also worked as a clerk at the former W.G. Brown Department Store. She was a member of the Madonna del Rosario Society, the Seafood Retirees Club and the Gloucester Golden Age Club.
She is survived by her son-in-law, David E. Buckles; grandchildren, Clayton, Carrie and Casey Buckles; four brothers, Samuel and Frank Lovasco both of Gloucester, Phillip Lovasco of North Port, FL and Sebastian Lovasco of Beverly; and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased in March by her daughter, Marilyn (Meadows) Buckles, and two sisters, Mary Sawyer and Jennie Laidlaw.
Her funeral service will be held on Monday morning in the Calvary Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours.
