Judith A. “Judi” McCann, 72, of Derry, NH formerly of Sierra Vista, AZ died Thursday June 9, 2011 at Parkland Medical Center of Derry, after a lengthy illness. Mrs. McCann was born January 26, 1939 in Boston, MA and was a daughter of Beatrice (Vadney) Rollins and the late George J. Rollins, Sr. She was raised and educated in East Templeton, and Lunenburg, MA and was a graduate of Lunenburg High School. As the wife of a Congregational minister, she was very active in the church. She moved frequently to congregations in Maine, Massachusetts, Missouri, and lastly in Bisbee, AZ, where they resided for several years. She had also worked as a writer for a radio station in Nashua.
In addition to her mother of Salem, NH, she is survived by two daughters, Krista Helems of Greenfield, MA, Kristina O’Bryant and her husband Christian of Germany, four stepchildren, Jack A. McCann, Jr. of CA, Kelly Laprade of NH, Lea Leonard of FL, and Vinetta McCann. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Kylie O’Bryant of Germany and Joey Goebel of MA, and her brother, George “Skip” Rollins and his wife (Caroline) of Salem. She was predeceased by her husband, Jack A. McCann, Sr. a US Army Retired Warrant Officer.
Calling hours were held on Sunday June 12, 2011 from 3 - 5pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry with a funeral service that began 4:30pm in the funeral home. Cremation followed. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Hearts Gifts Processing Center, P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049.
