Obituary

Gallagher, Thomas J, age 88 passed away on June 8th. He was born and raised in Jersey City, and lived in Bergenfield since 1952. He served in the US Army 45th Infantry Division during WWII, and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds suffered during the Winter Line Operations in Italy in late 1943. He worked as a Warehouse Supervisor at the Military Ocean Terminal in Bayonne until his retirement. His loves included fishing, woodworking and family.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Lucy of Bergenfield, and his son Thomas and daughter-in-law Lynn Manganaro of Cedar Grove. He was predeceased by his sister Margaret Dugan of New Milford, sister Marion Vogt of Short Hills, and twin brother Jack of Jersey City. Services will be held at Volk-Leber Funeral Home 789 Teaneck Road in Teaneck (201) 836-0202 on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral service Monday 10AM from the Volk Leber Funeral Home then to St. John’s Bergenfield for an 11AM Mass of Christian Burial. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Greater New Jersey Chapter, 400 Morris Avenue Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834.
