Robert “Charles” Dove, age 56, of Danville, passed away into eternity to be with God and those had gone before on Wednesday, June 8, 2011, after a brief and sudden illness.
Born April 23, 1955, he was the son of the late Wesley Dove and Margaret Dove, who survives. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sister, Wanda Greene and her husband Fred of Virginia Beach, Virginia; his brother, Brian Dove and his wife Cindy and their children Jamie Shelton, Daniel Dove and Lindsey Dove and their families, all of Wilson, North Carolina; his baby sister, Robin Crews and her husband Alan of Danville.
Charles was beloved by multitudes of friends who were attracted by his intellect, wit, and love of art and beauty. He will be recalled lovingly by his family for his wealth of knowledge and willingness to share it. Charles was a thoughtful son, most especially shown during his father’s and grandmother’s prolonged illnesses and deaths. He loved animals, especially those dogs with whom he shared his life. Charles was educated in Danville and subsequently attended the College Of William And Mary. His education, however, never ceased as he endeavored to absorb knowledge through life and experiences. He loved to paint and was a great admirer of the Old Masters. He loved art in any form. His was a life ended much too soon!
Psalm 27:4 “One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold to beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in His temple.”
A celebration of his life officiated by Rev. Daryl Joyce will be held Sunday, June 12, 2011 at 4 p.m. at the Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel. The family will be at the residence, 322 West Main Street, Danville, VA.
The family respectfully requests that memorial donations be made to Commonwealth Hospice of Danville, who cared so well for his loved ones.
