Grace Blackstock Long, age 76, of 877 Long Circle, Cascade, VA, died Wednesday, June 8, 2011 in Danville Regional Medical Center. She had been in declining health for the past three years and in the hospital for two weeks.
Born July 4, 1934 in Halifax County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late James Blackstock and Sadie Trent Robertson. She lived most of her life in the Brosville Community and was the owner and operator of Corner Market and Restaurant. Her husband, Hunter Bruce Long, predeceased her in 1999. Mrs. Long was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include two daughters: Nancy Kiernan Coleman and her husband Dr. Tom Coleman of San Diego, California, Susan Kiernan of Brosville; three sons: Michael Kiernan of Brosville, Philip Kiernan of Virginia Beach, and Hunter Bruce Long, Jr. and his wife Denise of Brosville; six grandchildren: Amanda Shepard, Jon Philip Pyron, Erica Weatherford, Blake Gillispie, Hunter Fitch, and Hunter Bruce “Buck” Long, III.
Funeral services officiated by Rev. Jeffrey Harlow will be held Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday June 10, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home, and at other times, at the residence, 877 Long Circle, Cascade.
