Silvana Martinho, age 79 of Somerset, passed away June 7, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Joao Martinho. Born in Bretanha, Sao Miguel, Azores, the daughter of the late Joao C. and Mary (Machado) Tavares. Prior to retiring, Silvana worked as a Seamstress in the Garment Industry and she was a parishioner of Santo Christo Church.
Besides her husband of Somerset, she is survived by her 9 children: Mary Rose Lindo, Joseph T. & Simon Martinho all of Fall River, Manuel & Antone Martinho both of Swansea, Senhourinha Almeida of Newmarket, Canada, Nellie Jacob of Swansea, Susan Pacheco of Berkley, John Martinho of Somerset; the sister of Rosemary Barros & Nell Aronson both of WA, Kathleen McLean of NV, and the late John, Joseph & Simon Tavares; 25 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.
Her funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on FRIDAY here at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Santo Christo Church at 9:00 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours THURSDAY 5-8 P.M.
