Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Stephen H. Davis, 83, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2011 in the Beverly Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the husband on Lucille C. (Clark) Davis.
Born on November 7, 1927, he was the son of Chandler R. and Constance (Wonson) Davis. A lifelong resident of Annisquam, he was a graduate of Gloucester High School class of 1944 and Bentley School of Accounting. He went on to work at Boston Mutual Life Insurance Company before retiring as a junior executive.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Stephen was honorably discharged in April of 1947. He enjoyed boating, traveling and skiing. He was also a member of the Tyrian-Ashler-Acacia Lodge A.F. and A.M. for 50 years. Stephen was loved by many friends and acquaintances and was cared for and deeply loved in his last years by those at the Golden Living Center. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his loving wife of 64 years, he is survived by a daughter, Susan C. (Davis) Kippen; two grandsons, Andrew L. and his wife, Melissa Kippen and Christopher D. Kippen; three great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Kayla and Andrew Kippen; a brother and sister-in-law, Chandler N. and Nancy Davis; two sisters, Carol Pearce and Marcia and her husband, James Aldrich; sister-in-law, Natalie Clark; brother-in-law, Lester Hotz and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by sister and brother-in-law, John and Ann (Davis) Midworth; brother-in-law, Fred C. Pearce and sister-in-law, Gloria (Clark) Hotz.
His memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 11th in the St. John’s Episcopal Church, 48 Middle Street, Gloucester at 11 a.m. There are no visiting hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester.
