LAWRENCE – Robert Bistany 79, of Lawrence died Sunday June 5, 2011 at the Mary Immaculate Nursing Home in Lawrence.
Born and educated in Lawrence, he was the son of the late Hassan and Najjla Bistany. He was a graduate of Lawrence High School Class of 1949 and also Bentley College in Waltham with the Class of 1951. During the Korean Conflict he served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharge. For 42 years Bob was employed with Alcatel-Lucent Technologies, formerly Western Electric in North Andover, MA.
Bob enjoyed playing the piano and played daily at the Methuen Senior Center.
He is survived by his two daughters Carol Hardy and her husband William of Salem, NH and Joanne Stikeman of Derry, NH.
Grandchildren Erin and David Hardy, Thomas and Joseph Stikeman.
Several nieces and nephews.
Bob was pre-deceased by his son Dennis R. Bistany and also his two sisters and one brother, Marie (Bistany) Gabriel, Sally Bistany and Norman Bistany.
ARRANGEMENTS: In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society 30 Speen Street Framingham, MA 01710. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 4:00p.m. – 7:00p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00a.m. in St. Anthony’s Maronite Church in Lawrence, MA. Burial will follow in St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Methuen, MA.
