Carl Lee Salmons, age 72, of 113 Hazelwood Court, Danville, died Monday, June 6, 2011 in the Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born November 16, 1938 in Cascade, Virginia, he was the son of the late Ernest Salmons and Myrtle Cross Salmons, and the step-son of the late Elsie Salmons. He was married to Ruth Hodges Tickle Salmons. He spent most of his life in Danville and was retired from Diston, Inc. and he later worked as a delivery man for Giles-Flowerland. Mr. Salmons was a member of Holland Road Baptist Church.
In addition to wife of the residence, he is survived by one daughter: Margaret Lynne Salmons Kerley of Mebane, NC; two step-sons: Leo Tickle, Jr. and his wife Stephanie of Keeling, VA and Clayton Hughes Tickle and his wife Mildred of Danville, VA; one sister: Shirley Salmons Moore; eight step-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by one sister, Evelyn Lee and one brother Julian Salmons.
Funeral services officiated by Pastor James Mays will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service. At other times, they will be at the residence, 113 Hazelwood Court, Danville.
